The simple past tense, sometimes called the preterite, is used to talk about a completed action in a time before now. The simple past is the basic form of past tense in English. The time of the action can be in the recent past or the distant past and action duration is not important.

Sitti Nurbaya menceritakan cinta remaja antara Samsulbahri dan Sitti Nurbaya, yang hendak menjalin cinta tetapi terpisah ketika Samsu terpaksa pergi ke Batavia untuk melanjutkan pendidikan. Belum lama kemudian, Nurbaya menawarkan diri untuk menikah dengan Datuk Meringgih (yang kaya tetapi kasar) sebagai cara untuk ayahnya hidup bebas dari utang; Nurbaya kemudian dibunuh oleh Meringgih. Pada akhir cerita Samsu, yang menjadi anggota tentara kolonial Belanda, membunuh Meringgih dalam suatu revolusi lalu meninggal akibat lukanya.
Cerita ini berkisar tentang semangat juang Zainuddin, bagaimana merana dan melaratnya hidup Zainuddin setelah cintanya ditolak oleh keluarga Hayati. Kemudian beliau bangun semula dari segala kedukaan, membuka lembaran baru dalam hidupnya menjadi seorang penulis yang ternama dan berjaya. Ia menceritakan tentang kesetiaan, cinta dan kasihnya Zainuddin terhadap Hayati. Meski Hayati sudah berkahwin tetapi sebaik mendapat tahu tentang kesusahan yang dihadapi Hayati, lantaran suaminya yang suka berpoya-poya serta tidak bertanggung-jawab, Zainuddin terus membantu tanpa ada dendam dan benci. Sesungguhnya cinta yang suci itu akan terus mekar di dalam hati hingga ke hujung nyawa begitulah jua cinta antara Zainuddin dan Hayati.
Is English difficult to learn? Students are required to study
English because it can be found anytime and anywhere, so it is important and
very useful, especially in career opportunities, education and life. Many
students are still not able to master English even though they have studied
English in a school all over the years. In fact, students learn English in
school just three or four hours a week in passively
rather than actively. It will get hard to understand because English needs a
lot of practice. English is often labelled as a subject that difficult to
learn, whereas English is not as difficult as imagine. This difficulty occurs
because it is caused by several
factors such as personal factors, environmental factors, and others.
Speaking is the main key in learning English. Without speaking people will not be able to practice a language that they learned. Many people have a problem with speaking ability when they study English. Most of people can understand when they listen in English but when they try to speak they get confused about what will they are going to tell. It caused by several factors such as lack of practice, lack of vocabulary, feel not confident, and so on. However, people can increase speaking with several strategies such as expand the vocabulary, using English in daily conversation, and self-talk in English.
